There is no requirement for a Solicitor in Spain to have a client account. The purpose of a client account is to keep client money separate from the money belonging to the firm of Solicitors.
At Just Law Solicitors here in Spain we have always had a client account, even though there is no legal requirement from the Bar Association in Spain for an Abogado to have one. No fees are taken from this account until your legal matter has been completed.
If for example, you buy a property in Spain we go to the Notary’s office with a bank draft which isn’t handed over until we have ensured that everything is correct. We never ask that you pay the purchase price to anyone prior to the signing of the deed.
If you’re planning on moving to Spain or you’re buying a holiday home get in touch with us. We will thoroughly check all the documents prior to attending the Notary office to sign the deed. This can be by power of attorney if you don’t want to attend in person.
If you need to be a tax resident in Spain we can help with this and we also have a tax specialist.
We can obtain health Insurance quotes and refer you to a mortgage broker.
Contact us before you make the move to Spain if you weren’t living in Spain before the end of 2020.
