As a lawyer here at Just Law Solicitors in Spain a lot of clients are aware that I am the Danish Consul, and the question I get asked often is how I became the Danish Consul. After I had been a lawyer for some time I was asked to join the board of directors at the Malaga Bar Association and I accepted the role of Director of International Relations.
At that time I was advising a Danish Lawyer called Mona Davidsen on everything relating to Spanish Law. At this time Mona Davidsen was the Danish Consul for Andalucía and Extremadura. Ms Davidsen took the decision to resign as Consul and asked me if I wanted to be one of the 3 people who might be able to succeed here. I accepted and my application was submitted along with the other 2 candidates.
I was interviewed at the Danish Embassy in Madrid by the Danish Ambassador Lone Wisborg and I was appointed Consul for Denmark in Andalusia and Extremadura in February 2015. The Danish Consulate is located in the centre of Malaga and my staff I look after the Danish Citizens here. It is a role which I enjoy even after 7 years in 2022 and I am proud to be a member of the Cuerpo Consular.
