As a lawyer at Just Law Solicitors, the Danish Consul and someone living in Spain the past few months have affected all of us in a way that is still difficult to quantify. All aspects of our lives that were normal before are not anymore. Our jobs, our studies, our holidays, our relationships with our families and friends, all of us somehow have been shaken by a sudden awakening within a nightmare, in one way or another.
Whether from an economic point of view, if you have been laid off or furloughed or lost your job together with the uncertainty of when and how you can return to employment. Also from a social point of view as the lockdown has taken us away from our friends or family, leaving us only with digital contact. In addition to all of what has happened from a personal or family point of view, this pandemic has taken the lives of many loved ones and has affected others for life.
Hopefully the virus can be controlled and we now have a new premiere of “normality” or ‘the new normal’ where some people have not yet learned, or do not want to, the magnitude that this pandemic can reach if we do not adopt the recommended preventive measures to try to recover our lives as much as possible the lifestyle that we had led until a just a few months ago.
I am surprised to see people who do not follow the precautionary measures. Obviously, they are not aware of the risk that they run, or maybe they do not care, but they should be concerned about the risk to others. Preventative measures must be taken as a way of protecting other citizens.
If we all do our part, little by little the economy will recover on the basis of safe and responsible tourism and with the appropriate business strategies for future projections that will make us reinvent ourselves as tourism that offers in addition to the sun and the beach, the quality of life that we enjoy in the South, in a responsible way adhering to the new conditions.
We must change the mindset and be aware that the coronavirus has come to stay for a time, until an effective vaccine is found, so in the meantime, responsibly applying hygiene and social distancing measures.
If we achieve that, for residents and tourists, we will continue to be one of the best places where we can spend our holidays, or living here in Spain because it is a privilege to enjoy our mild and bright winters or the summer holidays where freedom replaces the clock that marks the schedules.
If all together we can make it possible we will continue enjoying our paradise, simply by wearing a mask, washing your hands and maintaining the social distance of 2 meters, never before in the history of humanity, has such a serious problem had such an affordable solution.
Let’s be responsible and enjoy the summer that has just begun.
